| BEFORE SIGNING UP HOW SEARCH ENGINE
PROMOTION WORKS
Will submitting my web site guarantee it will rank with the search engines? Absolutely not. Rankings are largely dependent upon the web site's pages being index by the search engines and the content of the pages (titles, meta tags and text). PositionCare was designed to increase a web sites presence within the search engines and to assist the site administrator/webmaster in producing better content. My Project Score is low or zero. How long after the web site is submitted will I see results? We find AltaVista indexing website in 2 to 3 weeks. Three to six weeks is not uncommon for many of the other search engines and in some cases up to 90 days. I've already submitted my web site to the search engines but it is not ranking, what will your service do for me? That depends, if the site's index count is low which means that only a few pages are listed, then submissions by PositionCare may be the perfect answer. If the site's index count is good and rankings are low then the site's content needs to be enriched. PositionCare's Tutorial pages provide a good starting point for optimizing the site. How often should a web site be submitted? Submitting a web site weekly or monthly serves no purpose and can adversely affect the web site. After the initial submission of a site it should only be re-submitted for the following reasons: 1-The site's project score drops, 2-There is substantial content changes to the pages. I have pages within the site which I do not want submitted to the search engines. Can we exclude those pages? You can choose which pages of your web site you want to be submitted to search engines on the Manage URLs page. What pages (URLs) can a search engine index? Web pages are either static or dynamic. A static page is created and placed on the web server, it's URL (web address) will generally end with ".htm" or ".html". It will not change unless somebody alters the content and uploads it to the server again. Dynamic pages on the other hand are created on the fly and contain content which is generally populated from a database. Static pages are almost always submittable to the search engines however dynamic pages can pose a problem. If when you click on a link and the page you go to has a URL containing a "?" followed by something like "id=10" then the page is dynamic and may not be submitted to the engines. I'm worried about spamming the search engines, what steps does PositionCare take to avoid spamming the engines? Spamming comes in several forms. Over submitting a web site or submitting to many pages over a given time frame would both be considered forms of spam by many of the search engines. From the very beginning PositionCare was designed with numerous safeguards to prevent search engine spamming. Each search engine submission PositionCare makes is recorded and date stamped. Once the search engine's submission limit is reached PositionCare stops executing submissions to the engine and postpones submission dates into the future. We govern the maximum number of submission which may be may over a time frame however you may override the system with a lower limit.
What is PositionCare about? Which major search engines will my site be submitted
to? Why is PositionCare better than submission software? What do I have to do after signing up? Can I promote international sites? How and when is my site submitted? The program puts your page submissions into a queue. Every day a robot crawls through this queue and your submission requests will be executed if it doesn't hurt the Spam Control guidelines. What is submission scheduling good for? Some search engines prefer newly submitted pages, some engines keep forgetting (drop) your site from their index so it is recommended to resubmit your pages regularly. Also if your pages are regularly updated, and you want to keep search engines updated, the resubmission scheduler will be a useful help for you. How and when will my site being monitored? We monitor pro accounts on a daily basis, free account will be generally monitored every 3 days. Our robot goes through all major search engines searching for keywords given in your Project Profile. You can view your positions at the PositionMonitor desktop for each of your keywords. Also an overall visibility score (Project Score) will be generated, in order to give you an average measurement. How and when will I be alerted? (pro feature) You will receive an e-mail with an alert message if any of your positions have changed considerably. You can customize the alerting sensitivity at the PositionAlert page. Why do I have to place a button on my site? The PositionCare Free account is not a trial account, its features are fully functional except for submitting to small search engines and the PositionAlert feature. As a small compensation we ask you to place a TrafficMonitor banner on your site which is not a simple banner but will track the traffic coming from search engines to your site! We regularly check your site and see if the banner is placed on your index page. If you are signed up to our free account and we don't find the banner we might send you and e-mail explaining the problem. What sites are not permitted?
